PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for outputting a read image in an output size desired by an operator even when an original document is spread without lowering productivity, and a method of controlling it. SOLUTION: When an original document size is not automatically detected or in ADF read, the image processor reads the original document according to the original document size designated by an operator or the original document size detected by ADF, and outputs the read images. Meanwhile, in platen read and that the original document size is automatically detected, the image processor analyzes the read image and determines whether or not it is a spread original document. In this case, when it is the spread original document, the input of the original document size is urged to the operator and the read image is output in the input original document size.
