摘要 <p>This invention provides an aluminum electric wire for automobiles, which can realize excellent tensile strength, workability, flex resistance, and impact resistance while realizing a weight reduction and ensuring electric conductivity as a conductor, and a process for producing the aluminum electric wire. A soft conductor (14) of an aluminum alloy comprising 0.90 to 1.20% by mass of Fe, 0.10 to 0.25% by mass of Mg, 0.01 to 0.05% by mass of Ti, and 0.0005 to 0.0025% by mass of B with the balance consisting of Al and unavoidable impurities and having a tensile strength of not less than 110 MPa, a breaking elongation of not less than 15%, and an electric conductivity of not less than 58% IACS is covered with an insulator (16) to form an aluminum electric wire (10). The aluminum electric wire (10) is produced by plastically working an aluminum alloy, produced by rapidly cooling a molten alloy having the above alloy composition to solidify the alloy, to form element wires (12), twisting the element wires (12) together to form a conductor (14), softening the electric wires (12) before the twisting or the conductor (14) after the twisting at 250°C or above, and then covering the conductor (14) with the insulator (16).</p>
