<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle display device and a display method, enabling easy confirmation of identity of a vehicle imaged in an imaged data. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An in-vehicle display device 10 includes: an imaging unit 20 for imaging at least backward the self-vehicle and for outputting the imaged data; a vehicle recognition unit 30 for recognizing each vehicle in the imaged data; an extraction unit 40 for extracting characteristic information of the vehicle concerned at vehicle recognition; a search setting unit 50 for setting identification information related to the characteristic information; an image synthesis unit 70 for synthesizing the set identification information with the imaged data at imaged data display; and a display control unit 80 for displaying the synthesized image on a rear view display.
