<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erasing head capable of reducing a detection error of a temperature detector, and capable of eliminating a problem wherein a detection result is delayed, and to provide a printer using the erasing head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This erasing head includes a substrate, a heat generation body arranged on the substrate, and a temperature detecting layer is arranged in a heat conductive route for conducting heat to a recording medium to be erased by the heat generation body. An insulating layer and the temperature detecting layer are preferably coated sequentially in the heat conductive route for conducting the heat to the recording medium to be erased by the heat generation body. A protection layer is preferably coated further on a surface of the temperature detecting layer. The insulating layer coats a surface of the heat generation body, and is preferably extended along both sides thereof to coat the substrate, in addition thereto. The heat generation body preferably comprises a plurality of heat generation points arranged line-likely along a longitudinal direction of the substrate. The substrate is a ceramic substrate, and is provided with a glass glaze layer between the ceramic substrate and the heat generation body.
