PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of displaying a still image while suppressing power consumption to the minimum in an unused state when no moving image of content is displayed. SOLUTION: The video display device switches between a state of displaying a moving image based on a video signal for moving image display generated by a video processing circuit 2, and a state of displaying a still image based on a video signal for still image display generated by a main MPU 81 and recorded in a signal buffer 11, in accordance with an ON/OFF operation of a power supply or the like; and switches to supply or not supply the power to a video signal input unit 1 or the video image processing circuit 2 generating a video signal for a moving image, by a power supply switching circuit 10 in accordance with the switching of video display states.
