<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for detecting a communication speed by analyzing communication data, and for switching the communication speed according to the detection results. <P>SOLUTION: A communication device for performing serial communication of an asynchronous system is configured: to measure a low pulse width which is low pulse duration by detecting the bit change of communication data to be received from a communication partner; and to determine whether the communication data is high speed communication or low speed communication based on the determination of whether the measured low pulse width is a low pulse width which is equivalent to the bit width compatible with the low speed communication data. Thus, it is possible to detect the speed of the communication data from the communication partner whose communication speed is unclear, and to achieve control to establish communication by switching to the communication speed matched with the communication partner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
