<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element of an electrodeposition system, in which the color tone variations due to repeated driving is reduced. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The display element includes an electrolyte layer containing silver or chemical compound, containing silver in a chemical structure, between facing electrodes and performs driving of the facing electrodes so that the dissolution deposition of silver is produced, and in the display element, the electrolyte layer contains at least a compound A that contains sulfur in which ClogP is 0.45-4.4, and a solvent A in which ClogP is -0.34 to 2.6.
