<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of allocating a plurality of MAC addresses to a communication apparatus including a plurality of devices, in which the plant cost of a production system is suppressed to an irreducible minimum and temporary MAC addresses can be used also by other than a local network. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Various data indicating at least a vender ID 31a, a communication apparatus ID 31b, the number of devices 31d, and a production number 31e are stored by a communication apparatus 30A, a hash value of a predetermined length is determined from the production number by a hash function, and a temporary MAC address 32a is generated by combining the vender ID 31a, the communication apparatus ID 31b, and the hash value. The temporary MAC address 32a is used to transmit the various data to a MAC address management server 20 of a WAN (global network), so that MAC addresses 21a based on the various data and the number of devices are allocated by the MAC address management server 20.
