<p>Provided is a temperature sensor wherein the breaking strength of a weld between the element electrode wire and the sheath core wire is improved. In the temperature sensor, viewing the weld from the direction wherein the contact between the element electrode wire and the sheath-core wire can be seen, the midpoint of a line connecting the point nearest to and the point farthest from the temperature-sensing part on the weld surface is determined. In the cross-section that passes through the midpoint of the weld cross-sections that are perpendicular to the axial direction of the sheath member, the diameter of the element electrode wire is called D, and a point that is the intersection of the weld and the circumference of the element electrode wire and is nearer the side from which the laser beam is applied is called the first weld point. Drawing the pre-weld circumference (called "virtual circumference" hereafter) of the element electrode wire on the weld and advancing on the weld along the virtual circumference from the first weld point, the point at which the weld and the virtual circumference intersect is called the second weld point.
