PURPOSE: A device and a method for detecting troubles in a vehicle are provided to improve the marketability of a vehicle by preventing an unexpected accident. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting troubles in a vehicle is as follows. It is determined whether the engine of a completed vehicle is turned on or not(S101). It is determined whether an elapsed time, after the engine is turned on, exceeds a pre-set time or not and whether the injection quantity of fuel exceeds the pre-set injection quantity(S104). When the elapsed time exceeds the pre-set time, it is determined whether a trouble diagnosis function is normally set or not(S105).
