The device has a locking mechanism directly coupling a belt pulley (3) with a shaft (1) of a starter generator during operation. The locking mechanism is designed as a clutch (4) such that an outer ring (6) of the clutch is firmly connected with the pulley and an inner ring (5) of the clutch is fastened to the shaft. A magnetic coil (11) is provided in a region of the outer ring and integrated into the outer ring. Liquid is provided in an interspace (10) formed between the inner ring and the outer ring, where the liquid changes the viscosity under effect of a magnetic field formed by the coil.
