In order to minimize induced " noise " voltages in a synchronous interrupter or chopper generally similar to that described in Specification 882,682, the armature assembly includes a contact-carrying part of non- magnetic material. The stacked assembly as described in the above Specification is modified by the provision of an armature 13 co-operating with two L-shaped polar members 14, 15 and having two main members 48, 49 each having a magnetic portion 50A and a non-magnetic contact carrying portion 50B united by welding or brazing at 115. The members 48, 49 are riveted together at 112, 113 with the hinge tabs 52, 53 between them and are offset at 116 so as to stiffen the stem portion 50, the upper end being welded together with a spacer 117. |
