A high-elasticity biodegradable polymer comprising PDC, which has excellent solubility in solvents and reactants, in their repeating unit structures is provided in an inexpensive manner.
A polymer comprising a repeating unit represented by the following formula (I):

R 1 and R 2 each independently represent a divalent hydrocarbon residue with no active hydrogens in its structure and optionally containing a heteroatom;
X represents O or NH;
x represents an integer of at least 1; and
m and n represent 0 or 1;
and a process for their production.
