Particle filter regeneration strategy

The method involves locating oxidation catalyst in upstream of a particle filter, where the filter is regenerated periodically by escaping exhaust gas using tardy post-injections in cylinders of a combustion engine. Two base set points of the volume of fuel to be injected during a tardy post-injection are determined. Quantity of oxygen available at the inlet of the catalyst is determined. The filter and the quantity of fuel to be burnt with the oxygen quantity are preceded. A third set point (Q2) equal to the base set points progressing to the quantity of fuel to be burnt is determined.
