The device (1) has two gripping jaws (2, 3) movable relative to each other, where the gripping jaws include a trough-shaped recess (4) on a side. A film bag is fittable around the gripping jaws, so that a waste item (5) i.e. dog feces, is clamped by the gripping jaws in a fold of the film bag. The gripping jaws are pivotably mounted on a loop-shaped grip (6), where the grip includes two compressible griping sections (7, 8). A longitudinal side of the recess is aligned parallel to a pivot axis provided for the gripping jaws.
