<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier unit used in a system generating power movement from a comparatively short wavelength signal to a comparatively long wavelength signal. <P>SOLUTION: An optical amplifier unit comprises: an amplifier stage coupled to an optical transmission medium; a monitor for monitoring the state of a first band; and a pump light source configured to supply at least one first pump light to the optical transmission medium based on the monitored state of the first band, and to supply complementary power to a long wavelength channel to which the state of the first band is related, in accordance with the at least one first pump light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
