A wheelchair stability system is provided for maintaining safe and comfortable passage over varying terrain by automatically adjusting the centre of gravity of the wheelchair. A wheelchair comprises at least one tilt sensor that is used to detect changes in terrain to determine and control the automatic positioning of the seat to compensate for changes in slope or terrain. The wheelchair seat may be slid to a forward position when the wheelchair is travelling up a slope, and tilted back when the wheelchair is travelling down a slope. The system maximises stability and traction of the wheelchair. |
