A variable posture bed 10 comprises a base rest 11 which is located on a floor surface ; a bed board 25 which is arranged in a horizontal state above and opposite the base rest 11 ; a connection support portion 29, 15 which is disposed at the center of the base rest 11 between the base rest 11 and the bed board 25 and which supports the bed board 25 to be vertically movable in all directions around the center thereof ; connection support portions 29,15 which are disposed at four corners of the base rest 11 and the bed board 25 and which supports the bed board 25 to be vertically movable ; and a drive control device 41 which continuously moves the bed board 25 in the vertical direction with a predetermined operation pattern and which limits the vertical movement of the head side of the bed board 25 between the horizontal position and a predetermined upper position.
