The actuator (1) has an actuating element i.e. hand brake lever (2), locked by a locking device in a selectable adjusting position and detachable by a release device i.e. actuating rod (14), for actuating a parking brake. The element has two actuating parts (21, 22) that are connected with each other. One of the parts (21) actuates the brake by muscle power and movable relative to other actuating part against the spring action of a flexibly prestressed spring element i.e. helical compression spring, where the other actuating part serves as suspension of the actuating element at a vehicle.
