The device (104) has a light source (130) e.g. laser device, for providing energy required for ignition of a fuel-oxidant-mixture, and a window device (122) separating a combustion chamber (102) from the light source and provided with an optically transparent window element (124). The window element is provided with a coating (128) with an oxidation catalyst material for decomposition of carbon-containing window contamination. An influencing device influences a spatial position of a focus of a light ray (138) produced by the light source, and a control device controls the influencing device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a combustion chamber device comprising a combustion chamber with a combustion area and an ignition device (2) a method for operation of the combustion chamber device.
