The tool (1) has a tool spindle (10) displaceable to a tool magazine (20) in a normal position by an adjusting movement of an adjusting device (11) i.e. cross sliding carriage (12), for changing a tool (W). A shaft (S) of a replacement tool held in a tool holder (21) is arranged in front of a retainer (13) of the spindle in a replacement position of the magazine. The tool is clamped in the retainer by a relative movement between the spindle and the magazine of the shaft. The tool to be replaced is movable from the tool holder by a relative movement between the spindle and the magazine.
