PURPOSE: An upper thread clamping device of a sewing machine is provided to prevent separation of an upper thread from a needle, and to prevent waste of a sewing thread by minimizing a gap between the upper thread and the needle. CONSTITUTION: An upper thread clamping device of a sewing machine comprises a presser foot(63) combined to a presser foot stand by a presser foot block(60). The presser foot is moved on a presser foot fixing stand(62) up and down. The upper thread clamping device is installed on the presser foot and a driving-power generating member operated by control of a control device. A holder(50) is alternatively adhered to a stopper.
