930,313. Radiation burners. ANTARGAZ S. A. DE DISTRIBUTION DE GAZ LIQUIDES DE PETROLE. Sept. 25, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 32753/59. Class 75 (1). A safety device for a radiation burner 6 comprises a control burner having a nozzle 9 located behind an orifice 25 in the radiation plate 26 and means responsive to the flame of the control burner to control the supply of gas to both the radiation and the control burners. The flame responsive means comprises a thermocouple 21a located in a tangential position with respect to the flame of the nozzle 9 and adapted to energize an electromagnet to hold a lever, for operating a valve controlling the supply of gas to the radiation burner and the nozzle 9, in the open position of the valve. The lever has an armature plate and, in order to prevent adhesion to the electromagnet due to residual magnetism, the plate is coated with copper electrolytically or with paint or with a non-magnetic film obtained by metallization. The end of the nozzle 9 has an interior taper and the gas is supplied thereto by an injector. The nozzle 9 is disposed in a sleeve 23 passing through the gas chamber 24 of the radiation burner. The radiation burner and the control burner cause a draught to flow through the sleeve 23 which cools the nozzle 9. The control burner extinguishes when the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is less than 0.4%. |
