An air conditioner indoor unit (A) has a body casing for housing a fan and a heat exchanger therein. A top plate (13) is provided to the upper part of the body casing (1). The top plate (13) has a longitudinal reinforcing rib (14) formed thereon for dividing the top plate (13) into first and second regions (13a, 13b). First and second reinforcing ribs (15, 16) are formed on each of the first and second regions (13a, 13b) so as to extend between the longitudinal reinforcing rib (14) and each of opposite side edges (13c) opposed to the longitudinal reinforcing rib (14). The reinforcing ribs (14, 15, 16) significantly increase the rigidity of the entire top plate (13). Further, when the first and second reinforcing ribs (15, 16) are formed by stretch forming, distortion and warp of the top plate (13) caused by springback after the forming is reduced. As a result, the top plate (13) can be easily mounted in position.
