PURPOSE: A marking recognizing method and a device thereof are provided to extract a character or a marking accurately regardless of a type of the character in spite of existence of non-uniform lighting. CONSTITUTION: Using the first set and an inputted image, a pixel value of the first image is calculated(S110). Using the second set with a size smaller than the first set and the inputted image, a pixel value of the second image is calculated(S120). The pixel value of the second image is reduced from the pixel value of the first image. A pixel value of the third image is calculated through the reduction(S130).
