PURPOSE: An image processing device, an image processing method and a recording medium storing a program for executing the processing method are provided to proceed quicking and exact trace by confirming a spot which the first direction similarity and second direction similarity is most high as a trace area in a current frame image. CONSTITUTION: A similarity calculator(51) calculates similarity while diversifying location of a template in a task frame image. The similarity calculator calculates the second direction similarity while diversifying the second direction location of a template with fixing the first direction location of the template. In a spot which the second direction similarity is most high, the similarity calculator calculates the first direction similarity while diversifying the first direction location of a template with fixing the second direction location of the template.
