The dispenser (1) has a retaining unit for a replaceable cartridge containing solid drug portions i.e. hormone supplement. The cartridge has a lower shell (920) in which a dispensing opening (922) for the drug portions is provided. The dispenser is designed for dispensing the drug portions in an axial direction. Detent lugs, eyelets, locking lugs and projections are provided for locking the cartridge in the dispenser. A feed bracket, a lever, contact surfaces and an ejection slide are formed such that the locking is releasable when no drug portion is provided in the cartridge.
