摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use only a digital logic gate circuit to generate an unpredictable highly random number sequence with high throughput. <P>SOLUTION: A random number generation circuit for latching the intermediate node output of a ring oscillator configured of odd-numbered stages of inverters by a clock, and for outputting it as a random number value is provided with: odd-numbered La stages of delay generation parts A; even-numbered Lb stages of delay generation parts B; a selector for switching the output of the final stage of the delay generation part A and the output of the final stage of the delay generation part B, and for connecting it to the first stage of the delay generation part A; and a control part for outputting a control signal to select an operation mode A in which a shot cycle ring oscillator is formed of the odd-numbered La stages and an operation mode B in which a long cycle ring oscillator is formed of odd-numbered (La+Lb) stages to the selector. The intermediate node output of the ring oscillator is latched at the timing of the operation mode B while continuing an oscillating operation by alternately switching the operation mode A and the operation mode B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
