PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fluctuations in the height of an applied adhesive that is continuously applied from a tip of a nozzle, by eliminating the inconvenience of flowing of the adhesive into an image display area, in a flat display panel with a board-shaped member stuck to an image display panel. SOLUTION: There are provided a table D1 on which the image display panel 3 is placed and fixed by suction, and the nozzle N1 positioned on the upper side thereof and applying the adhesive 4 to the lower side. The nozzle N1 and the table D1 are made to operate relative to each other with a control means E, to make the nozzle go around the image display area 3a1, while continuously applying the adhesive 4 along a level difference 3a2 by using the level difference 3a2, which is formed on the outer circumference of the image display area of the image display panel substrate 3 as an adhesive application guide. After a lapse of a prescribed waiting time, from immediately after the completion of application of the adhesive 4 to the decrease in the height of the adhesive 4 to remain within a predetermined range, the board-shaped member 2 and the image display panel substrate 3 are stuck to each other.
