PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a copyright by suppressing the creation of its lawless copy when performing the transmission of contents by using a wire LAN or a radio LAN, and prevent the transmission of the contents from exceeding a personal using range. SOLUTION: A content transmitter and receiver performs the authentication of the other party mutually before the transmission of copyright contents. When performing the authentication, a time required until the arrival of the authentication requirement or the reception confirmation to the transmission of the authentication response is measured, and the secretly coded contents are transmitted only when the measured value does not exceed a certain upper limit. Furthermore, address information and appliance information individualized to the content transmitter and receiver are registered, and when transmitting the contents again, the time measurement is not performed, and furthermore, secretly coded contents are transmitted.
