<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment apparatus which can improve a treatment speed by efficiently making active species such as radicals generated by discharge act on the water to be treated. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The water treatment apparatus has a jet nozzle 3 for the water to be treated granulating the water to be treated so as to be jetted toward the lower part, and is composed of: linear voltage applying electrodes 21 supported in an extended state so as to cross the vertical direction; and almost channel-shaped or cylindrical grounding electrodes 22 in which the cross-section has a circular arc shape with a central angle of ≥180°, while the inner wall face side is at least opposed to the lower side half of the voltage applying electrodes, and the voltage applying electrodes are arranged so as to coincide with the central axis, and holes through which the jetted water to be treated can pass through are formed at the wall face. When streamer discharge is generated between the voltage applying electrodes and the grounding electrodes, and two or more sets of streamer discharge units for subjecting treatment substance in the water to be treated to decomposition treatment are projected from the upper part in the vertical direction, each grounding electrode is arranged so as to be brought into contact with or partially superimposed on the grounding electrode of the other streamer discharge unit.
