<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod having improved adhesiveness between an outer surface of a rod material and a decorative layer by cleaning the outer surface, and having a modified surface of the decorative layer and reduced weight of the rod material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rod material 1 is formed of a prepreg obtained by impregnating a reinforcing fiber with a matrix resin. The whole treating region of the outer face of the rod material 1 or the outer face of a coating layer 3 on the outer face of the rod material 1 is treated over the treating region to form a treated face 2 by locally applying high-energy particles formed from an action gas by a high-energy applying means.
