The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with a fuel injection system. The injection system comprises a source (1) of pressurized fuel positioned outside an oil-wetted space (2) of an engine (4) and a fuel injector (5) positioned within Go said space (2). An engine component (7) that is a part of an engine system other than the fuel injection system is attached to the engine outside the oil-wetted space (2) by means of a fastener (9). The fastener (9) is provided with an internal passage forming part of a hydraulic communication between the source (1) of pressurized fuel and the injector (5).
