The cutting insert has a central section forming a shaft (1) and two mutually opposite end sections (3) formed as pricking cutting edges. The end sections are oppositely oriented relative to the central longitudinal axis of the shaft. The end sections have a main cutting edge (5) extending asymmetrically in the transverse direction relative to the central longitudinal axis and two auxiliary cutting edges (6,7) with different distance to the central longitudinal axis. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a tool kit with a tool holder; and (2) a tool, particularly a drill rod or an external pricking mount with a holder seat.
