DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GUESSING MEANING OF WORD, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To guess the meaning of a word with less workload without requiring any learning corpus.

SOLUTION: On the basis of appearance frequency that each word meaning-based headword in a word meaning-based headword DB 14B appears in each word meaning sentence, indirect appearance probability of the word meaning-based headwords is calculated. The word meaning-based headword corresponding to each word extracted from an input sentence is acquired from the word meaning-based headword DB 14B. A word meaning-based headword combination 14D is generated for the combination of the words. Semantic relevance is calculated for each word meaning-based headword combination 14D generated by a combination generation part 15C on the basis of the indirect appearance probability of each word meaning-based headword registered in an indirect appearance probability DB 14C. The combination of the word meaning-based headwords whose semantic relevance is the highest is selected from the word meaning-based headword combinations 14D. The meaning of any word included in an input sentence is guessed on the basis of the combination of the word meaning-based headwords.
