The reservoir (100) has a hot water tank (110) for storing of hot water, a heater (HE) arranged in the tank for heating water (W), and a controller (SE) controlling heating operation of the heater. The controller controls charging of the hot water to a reference temperature at a time point and maintains the reference temperature at another time point until another charging of the hot water to another reference temperature takes place. The former reference temperature lies between 40-50 degree Celsius and the latter reference temperature amounts to greater than or equal to 60 degree Celsius. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a hot water reservoir.
