According to the invention, angular sectors of the cylindrical wall of a waste-vitrification crucible, which are made of steel and subjected to high temperatures, are coated with a mixture containing mainly glass and ceramic, the coating being subjected to a thermal processing that includes a step between 650°C and 850°C in order to generate a superficial melting of the mixture filling the open porosity, thereby enhancing the dielectric resistance and the cohesion of the coating, without generating any excessive thermal expansion nor any substrate oxidation that would result in a rapid scaling of the coating.
