PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate pseudo signals at a time suitable to positions of images corrected on the basis of position shift correction amounts after modification when the position shift correction amounts applied on position shift correction of the images are modified. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a transfer part for transferring images of each color transferred on an intermediate transfer body from a plurality of photoreceptors on paper at transfer positions; a paper conveying means for conveying the paper toward the transfer positions; a computing part 51 for reporting an obtained time by generation of pseudo signals by obtaining the time allowing the images transferred on the intermediate transfer body to reach the vicinity of the transfer positions by computing; a paper conveying control part 50 for controlling paper conveying on the basis of the time obtained with the computing part 51; a registration sensor 35 for detecting the position shift of the images of each color; a registration shift correction part 52 for correcting the image forming positions on the photoreceptors in response to the obtained position shift correction amounts by obtaining the position shift correction amounts of the images on the basis of the detection result; and a pseudo signal correction part 53 for correcting a reference value regulating a generation time of the pseudo signals in response to the position shift correction amounts obtained therein.
