<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of conductivity of a light-emitting element in a light-emitting device in which thin-film sealing is carried out. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting device D includes: a first substrate 10; a plurality of light-emitting elements U each of which has a first electrode 14 which is formed on the first substrate 10, a light-emitting functional layer 20 formed on the first electrode 14, and a second electrode 22 formed on the light-emitting functional layer 20; a barrier rib 12 which is formed on the first substrate 10 and divides the plurality of light-emitting elements U; a stress alleviation layer 24 which partially covers the second electrode 22 and alleviates stress concentration on the second electrode 22; and a passivation layer 26 which is formed on the stress alleviation layer 24 and is a protection layer to prevent invasion of water and open air into the light-emitting element U and is made of an inorganic material. The second electrode 22 covers the light-emitting functional layer 20 in the plurality of light-emitting elements U and the barrier rib 12 to divide the plurality of light-emitting elements U.
