摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet irradiation apparatus and a coating formation method of an optical fiber for improving curability of a coating resin and an apparatus lifetime. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Ultraviolet rays UV are introduced from longitudinal direction both ends of a light guide path 61, along the longitudinal direction of the light guide path 61 from a semiconductor light emitting element 35. The ultraviolet rays UV are emitted from the side face on the optical fiber F side of the light guide path 61, condensed by a condenser lens 62, irradiated to the coating resins C1, C2 applied onto the optical fiber surface, and condensed on the resin coating with the line width of about 1 mm. As for an ultraviolet light source, a peak position of its light emission wavelength is preferably overlapped on a peak position of an absorption wavelength of an ultraviolet curing resin. The ultraviolet rays UV emitted from the ultraviolet light source are spread along a vertical direction linearly over the whole light guide path, and condensed in a longitudinally linear shape having a width of about 1 mm on a double-layered resin coating, by a condenser lens provided on the optical fiber side.
