PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for being operated at a mode corresponding to user request in a simple method when starting supply of power to the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: When starting the supply of power (S21) by switching on a power supply switch, a control part refers to a mode of holding operation (S22), and determines whether the mode of the holding operation is a normal mode or a power saving mode. In other words, the control part determines whether it is set to be operated at the normal mode or it is set to be operated at the power saving mode when completing the supply of the power to a digital composite machine. In the normal mode (YES in S23), the control part controls to operate the digital composite machine in the normal mode (S24).
