The device has a conveyor for supporting elongated workpieces (1) i.e. skis. Pressing elements (3) are brought in contact with the workpieces at the conveyor. A drive unit drives a continuous conveyor belt (4). The pressing elements are firmly connected at the conveyor belt at a preset distance, and a control unit is provided for the pressing elements. The control unit brings the pressing elements in attachment at the workpieces and/or removes the elements from the workpieces by considering the position and the shape of the workpieces. The conveyor belt is formed by a belt, chain or a rope.
