The drive train has an electrical machine (3) switched towards a switching transmission (2) in a force flow direction. The electrical machine is coupled to the drive train over the transmission. The transmission is designed as a planetary transmission (4) with shafts (6, 7, 8). The shafts are connected with a transmission output (9), a rotor of the machine and an output of the drive train, respectively in a torque proof manner. The rotor is detachably connected with the transmission output over a switching element. The switching element is designed as a claw coupling (5). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hybrid drive train for a motor vehicle.
