The method comprises loading photovoltaic cells to be processed so that the plastic portion is separated from remaining components of the module, and treating both fractions with dilute hydrochloric acid under precipitation of slight quantity of hydrogen peroxide. The mechanical treatment is carried out in such a way that the plastic retains its shape based on its elastic characteristics and the brittle component is crushed as grist. The fractions are treated with 15% of dilute hydrochloric acid under addition of catalytic quantity of hydrogen peroxide solution. The reactions proceed at room temperature but the reaction time is shortened optionally by increasing the bath temperature or increasing the hydrogen peroxide concentration. The extracted plastic- and/or glass fractions are viewed through washing with water and subsequently drying as recyclable material. The washing water is used for diluting the hydrochloric acid. Filter, centrifuges or hydrocyclone is used for the method.
