<p>The present invention relates to an fire-retardant chemical aqueous gel composition specifically retarding the commencement of combustion under conditions appropriate for the same. Said composition is characterised in that it fundamentally comprises at least one water-soluble flame-extinguishing agent, at least one water-soluble intumescent agent, and at least one water-soluble complex-forming agent, in addition to an aqueous solution of the composition together with, optionally, a water-soluble carbonising agent. The solution obtained is applied in a thin layer on the surface of the material which it is intended to protect, the absorption whereof depending on the type of material; on exposure of the material whereon it has been applied to a heat source, the absorbed product will delay for between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on the material in question, the commencement of combustion.</p> |
