PURPOSE: A carriage apparatus for fillet welding that is capable of automatic tracing of a welding zone in consideration of the slant of welding base metal and an application method thereof are provided to carry out fillet welding while accurately tracing the welding zone even if a horizontal and a vertical work piece are not perpendicular to each other. CONSTITUTION: A carriage apparatus for fillet welding that is capable of automatic tracing of a welding zone in consideration of the slant of welding base metal comprises a carriage(10), a displacement sensor, and a torch controller(30). The carriage is driven vertically or horizontally along a fillet welding zone(3). The displacement sensor is installed above a vertical work piece(1). The torch controller adjusts the position or angle of a welding torch(60) while keeping a certain distance from the fillet welding zone.
