<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device for preventing the continuation of ratcheting. Ž<P>SOLUTION: During the travel of a vehicle (Yes in Step S11), when the restart of an engine is detected (Yes in Step S14) and a current shift range is determined to be a P-range (Yes in Step S15), the operating condition of a parking lock mechanism is controlled to be an unlocking condition (Step S18). Thus, the continuation of the locking condition of the parking lock mechanism resulting from voltage drop due to the restart of the engine can be prevented to prevent the continuation of ratcheting.
