PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front passenger seat airbag device for actualizing smooth protection while suppressing downward unnecessary thrust of an adjacent article contacting an instrument panel near its airbag storage site. SOLUTION: The front passenger seat airbag device includes an airbag 15, and a cover cloth 34 peripherally covering the folded airbag 15. The cover cloth 34 has an upper end as a free end, and a lower end connected to the airbag 15. It is laid between the airbag 15 at the beginning of the inflation and the adjacent article NP located adjacent to the instrument panel 1, and arranged near the crosswise center of the airbag 15 at the beginning of the inflation. In a position near the crosswise center, a through-hole 37 is arranged which has a cut-off region in contact with the adjacent article NP so that the adjacent NP and the airbag 15 can contact each other at the beginning of the inflation of the airbag 15.
