<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective device which protects an artificial dental root during an initial unstable fixing period after implanting it, alleviates the burden on a patient and is easy to handle. <P>SOLUTION: A protective cover for the artificial dental root has connection parts for temporary connection with adjacent teeth and is provided with a cover member which has substantially no contact with the end of the dental root or has a buffer part consisting of a buffer material interposed between itself and the end of the dental root or a cover member having a lid which is so constructed that only its part surrounding the top of the dental root is separated.
