<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen-releasable clathrate releasing increased amount of hydrogen even when heated at a relatively low temperature, which can be recycled even after the hydrogen is released and can be stably stored over a long period of time, and a method for releasing hydrogen from the hydrogen-releasable compound. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen-releasable compound is a compound wherein a nitrogen- and boron-containing compound serving as a guest compound is included in an amide-based compound serving as a host compound. Here, the nitrogen- and boron-containing compound is ammonia borane, etc., and the amide-based compound is bis(dicyclohexylamide)diphenate, etc. The nitrogen boron clathrate can release hydrogen upon heating at a temperature ranging from 90-150°C and can be stably stored over a long period of time.
